Message from PSJA Superintendent, Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo

Dear PSJA Family,

On Friday, we shared communication on a new central office reorganization to support our strategic direction and ensure we reach our vision of preparing our students to participate, compete and excel in a global society.

As part of this update, several of our senior level administrators will be leading new schools and programs to better align our district resources and personnel to support our Leadership Growth and Effective Teaching & Learning pillars of our Strategic Direction:

Dr. Nora Cantu
Executive Officer for Academics

Dr. Cantu will oversee most of our Academic Departments* and serve as a key leader in planning and implementing our district-wide Literacy Plan. She will lead the alignment of resources to implement our strategic priorities such as district-wide plan to increase number of International Baccalaureate schools, supporting School Action Fund Grants and strengthening System of Great Schools and other TEA partnerships.

*Assessment, Library Services, Dual Language, Texas Migrant Interstate, Migrant, Special Education, Grants/Special Programs

 

 

 

 
Corina Ramirez 
Executive Officer for Learning Acceleration

Mrs. Ramirez will continue to serve in her capacity as Executive Officer to lead our Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) and the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds. She will supervise a 3-year budget of well over $180 million of ESSER funds and $5.6 million of TCLAS funds.

 

 

 

 

 

 



Dr. Rebeca Garza
Asst. Superintendent for Human Capital Development

Dr. Garza will continue to support our Leadership Growth pillar, as well as support Effective Teaching & Learning through the re-organization of the New Teacher Program and the Professional Development Departments under our Human Capital priorities. The alignment of resources will continue to support our strategic planning framework.

 

 

 

 

 


Nora Rivas-Garza
Executive Officer for Secondary Schools

Mrs. Rivas-Garza will transition into supervising the secondary schools in the PSJA Early College High School* and PSJA Southwest Early College High School** clusters.
*Austin Middle School & Yzaguirre Middle School  
**Kennedy MS & Escalante MS, including the PSJA Virtual MS Program

 

 

 

 


Iris Alvarez
Executive Officer for Secondary Schools

Mrs. Alvarez will transition into supervising the secondary schools in the PSJA North Early College High School* and PSJA Memorial Early College High School** clusters.

*LBJ Middle School & Liberty Middle School
**Alamo Middle School & Murphy Middle School

 

 

 

 

 



Dr. Linda Uribe
Executive Officer for College & Career Readiness

Dr. Uribe will continue to supervise the college and career readiness departments including Counseling, College Transition and Career & Technical Education. She will also supervise the following specialty schools:
PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM ECHS, PSJA Collegiate HS Program, PSJA E. Ballew CCTA/P-TECH, PSJA Virtual HS Program, PSJA S. Sotomayor P-TECH and Pathways Toward Independence (PTI).

 

 

 

 


We recently announced our newest member of our Executive Officer team, Mrs. Virna Bazan to join Mrs. Claudia Gonzalez and Mr. Joe Garza, realigning their school assignments as Executive Officers for Elementary Schools as follows:

Joe Garza
Executive Officer for Elementary Schools

Mr. Garza supervises the following schools:

Palmer Elem., Cantu Elem., Trevino Elem.,
Doedyns Elem., Arnold Elem., Reed & Mock Elem.,
Dr. Long Elem., Garza-Pena Elem., and PSJA Virtual Elementary Program

 

 

 

 

Virna Bazan
Executive Officer for Elementary Schools

Mrs. Bazan supervises the following schools:

Kelly-Pharr Elem., Garza Elem., Garcia Elem.,
Chavez Elem., Farias Elem., Palacios Elem.,
Carman Elem., and Clover Elem.
