PSJA ISD School Board approves face masks to be included as part of Student Conduct Dress Code for the 2021-2022 School Year

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s School Board approved the inclusion of face masks as part of the Student Conduct Dress Code board policy for all students during the 2021-2022 school year.

Under Chapter 11 of the Texas Education Code, which gives school districts the power to supervise health and safety measures, the board can amend the standardized dress code consistent with a “statutory authority.” With this approval, the students’ standardized dress would include wearing a face mask that covers the mouth and nose while on campus and/or school district related activities.

An updated student dress code document will be provided electronically to all parents.

For parents wishing to opt-out of this mandate, a review process is available within the district's Student Services Office. They may be reached at 354-2000.
