Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush visits PSJA ISD

PHARR - Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush visited with Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) district leadership and student body representatives at PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School on Friday, June 4, 2021. 

 

 

As part of his visit, Commissioner Bush met with district leadership and spoke to students about public education and the impact the Texas Land Commission’s has on public schools. He also commended the school district for efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

“Texas is the place where you can go and achieve your dreams as you see fit,” said Commissioner Bush. “I am proud and privileged to be here at one of Texas’ best education facilities.” 

 

Among those attending the event included PSJA School Board of Trustees, Cabinet, Senior Staff, Principals, and staff members from various frontline departments such as Health Services, Child Nutrition, Maintenance, and Security, to name a few. 

 

PSJA School Board President Jorge Zambrano thanked Commissioner Bush for taking time to visit the school district on students’ last day of school for the 2020-2021 school year. 

 

“We appreciate your continued support,” said President Zambrano. “Thank you for keeping education a priority and thinking of PSJA.” 

 

For Carman Elementary 5th grade student Jordan Muñoz, getting to hear from Commissioner Bush was a special experience.  

 

“It was informational, he shared stories and about the people helping us around here,” said Muñoz. “It’s super cool. He is an elected official for the state and related to two Presidents.”
