PSJA ISD Librarian receives Texas Library Association award for excellence in digital presence
PHARR – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Librarian Karina Quilantan has been honored with the Media/Virtual Presence (MVP) Award by the Texas Library Association.
The MVP Award is given to school librarians who show excellence in their virtual presence through several different avenues, including but not limited to Twitter, professional websites, Facebook, school library websites, blogs, Pinterest, and other social media.
Quilantan, who is the librarian at Jaime Escalante Middle School in south Pharr, has been recognized for showing excellence in her school’s virtual presence through different avenues such as her campus Instagram account @libraryjems, website, blog, and e-newsletter.
“I use this to keep my students, staff, and parents informed about what resources the library has to offer throughout the school year,” said Quilantan who has worked at PSJA ISD for three years. “The ultimate goal is to shine a light on how libraries transform student learning.”
