ALAMO - Staff from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD's Marcia R. Garza Elementary in Alamo volunteered their time last weekend to help families in the Rockport area, as they recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

The educators joined Samaritan's Purse, a non-profit organization helping with the relief efforts. 

According to Claudia Garcia, counselor at the school, the group was able to help two families clean debris from around their home and recover belongings that were strewn across the land, as well as help with demolition of drywall due to water damage.
