PSJA teacher invited as keynote speaker for Regional Education and Workforce Conference
Eloy Garza, marketing teacher at PSJA Southwest Early College High School has been invited to be RGV Lead and Workforce Solutions keynote speaker for the Regional Education and Workforce Conference to be held Nov. 16-17 at South Padre Island.
He is scheduled to close the two-day conference.
According to RGV Lead Director Dr. Norma Salaiz, Garza’s Marketing Employer Engagement Project he developed for his students is a best practice that needs to be shared with other educators and employers.
For the last several years, Garza has partnered with area businesses to give his students real hands-on learning, helping small businesses develop marketing strategies, websites and materials needed to expand. These opportunities have given PSJA Southwest marketing students real experience in the field they plan to pursue and in turn they are helping small businesses along the way.
“His marketing project is an excellent example of how to engage students in relevant industry skill development in partnership with local employers,” Dr. Salaiz said.
