PSJA ISD gifts student artwork to Retired Congressman for years of service

McALLEN - As a special way to bid farewell to former US Congressman Ruben Hinojosa, PSJA ISD presented him with a portrait of his likeness created by PSJA Southwest Early College High School student Armando Torres. The gift was presented during a luncheon hosted by Region One's Gear Up earlier this summer. PSJA ISD gifts student artwork to Retired Congressman for years of service

The student and PSJA ISD Superintendent Dr. Daniel King presented the portrait to Congressman Hinojosa on behalf of the PSJA Board of Trustees and the entire PSJA Family for his commitment to education and the Rio Grande Valley.

Hinojosa retired after representing the 15th Congressional District of Texas for 20 years.

Inspired by the struggles and accomplishments Congressman Hinojosa faced during his tenure, Torres painted the piece to feature a freshly plowed field with a rising sun, a growing infrastructure and a broken wall.
