BBVA Compass Partners with PSJA ISD to Teach Importance of Financial Literacy

PHARR, TX—BBVA Compass surprised students from Dan Ramirez Elementary with gifts in hand and valuable lessons to hold on to forever. Through “Project Blue Elf” BBVA Compass presented the value of financial literacy, and how important it is to understand the way banks work. After the presentation the drumroll started and the stage curtains opened for the big reveal; 322 brand new toys ranging from board games to Play-Doh sets were neatly placed for all Pre-K to 2nd grade students to see. Volunteers from Project Blue Elf cheerfully lined up and began grabbing armfuls of gifts to hand out to the students, delivering joy and valuable financial lessons. “The expressions on the kids faces are very heartwarming and certainly they will enjoy the gifts, but hopefully they will still remember what we taught them about financial literacy,” said Jason Leal, BBVA Compass Rio Grande Valley Market President. “We really enjoy doing this, that’s why we put in so many volunteer hours.”
