About the PSJA Gifted and Talented Program
Gifted and Talented Assessment Process for 2019 – 2020
During the 2019 – 2020 schoolyear, our district implemented the required assessments for the identification of Gifted and Talented students. As of Spring break, some of our schools had completed the testing while others were in the process of finishing up the testing. During to the COVID 19 Pandemic, our students have not returned to school; therefore, the testing is not complete. At our virtual G/T Coordinator meeting that was held on March 31, 2020, it was recommended by Ms. Monica Brewer, our state G/T Coordinator from the Texas Education Agency, that all G/T testing be suspended until this summer or next fall. The assessment process will continue as soon as the students return to class. Once the testing is completed by all schools, our District G/T Identification Committee will meet to determine which students demonstrate a need for gifted services. When the decision is made, letters will be sent out to all parents of students who completed the testing. Due to these unforeseen circumstances, it is impossible to continue our assessment process without the complete data. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. As all of us strive to move forward during this difficult time, we thank you for your patience and understanding. Please be assured that our gifted program always strives to meet the educational needs of your students. Please feel free to email me should you have any additional questions or need further clarification.
