About The Legacy

The PSJA Legacy Magazine is Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s premier keepsake publication, created to spotlight the people, programs, and progress shaping education across the tri-city area of Pharr, San Juan, and Alamo, Texas.

Produced in Spring and Winter editions, The Legacy shares powerful stories of student achievement, innovative learning opportunities, dedicated educators, and community partnerships that reflect PSJA ISD’s commitment to opportunity for all.

With more than 2,000 high-quality printed copies distributed across the Rio Grande Valley to families, community leaders, and key stakeholders, plus a digital edition for expanded reach, The PSJA Legacy Magazine connects local audiences with the district’s impact while celebrating the pride and momentum of one of South Texas’s leading school districts.

We start out small children with minds that are eager and curious Learn that the world has much it holds and more that it gives We are given knowledge by the hands and minds that are trusted with our care A patchwork of people in truth Teachers parents friends and even a passing stranger whose story resembles our own Within their care we grow into ourselves and discover our passions and dreams Some of us despair before we begin to dream Others pursue passion like it is a kite on a summer's day Nonetheless for us all their is a place Perhaps a tiny one that has always called out our name or a endless space that cradles us in its arms Maybe it is a straight path to reach there or a series of twists and turns that confuses us with every step However as we traverse through these roads we look forward Forward to a future that awaits.

I wasn’t the one who raised him. I didn’t wake up early every morning to feed him, or spend hours training him, or put in all the hard work my siblings did. But I was there. I was there for the laughs, when things went wrong and somehow became funny. I was there for the long days when everyone was tired but didn’t want to give up on there animal. I was there for the small moments, watching the bond grow stronger every single day. And even though he wasn’t mine it still hurt. I stood off to the side, watching my sibling run their hand along his back one last time. the way their smile didn’t quite hold. “You’re okay,” they said to the animal. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t know what to say. How do you comfort someone who’s losing something they worked so hard for? When it was finally time, everything felt quiet. And that’s the last moment with there hard work with there animal.

9th Grade | PSJA Memorial ECHS

I didn’t really know what I was getting into when I joined FFA just knew I loved animals and wanted to try something new. My first year, in seventh grade, I started with a rabbit. It was small, simple, and honestly a little overwhelming at first, but it was the beginning of something that would become my second heart.In eighth grade, I started showing a pig. That’s when I really began to understand the dedication it takes early mornings, long days, and learning how to stay committed no matter what. Then in ninth grade, I pushed myself even more and started showing a goat. Each year, I grew not just as a showman, but as a person.There were times I felt stressed, tired, and even doubted myself. But FFA taught me how to keep going, even when things got hard. It showed me discipline, patience, and how to believe in myself.Now, I’m achieving goals I once thought were out of reach. I’m experiencing new things, meeting new people, and continuing to grow my love for animals every single day. FFA isn’t just something I’m a part of it’s a part of me. It’s my second heart, and it always will be. 🐐🐇🐷💚 🖤

Tamasopo trip with abuelita

8th Grade | Jaime Escalante MS

I went to Tamasopo with my grandma, and it was one of my favorite trips. The drive felt long, but I liked looking out the window and talking with her. When we got there everything looked really colorful because they were decorating for Dia de los Muertos since they didn't celebrate Halloween.One of my favorite parts was when we went to a place with a lot of water. It was super clear, and there were fish swimming around. I thought it was really cool,there is also a lot of food stands. I ate crepas and hotdogs my grandma told me about the food and how it’s part of their culture, which made it more interested I also noticed that there was a fashion show where little kids dressed up like skeletons and walked like models. It was fun to watch and it was also funny the way kids would trip or forget where to go.At the end of the day, I felt really happy because I got to spend time with my grandma and see new things. It’s a trip I’ll always remember.

Ad space is limited and is being reserved on a first-confirmed basis. Once placements are filled, we will close reservations for the inaugural issue.
