Tell us your story! What hardships or challenges have you overcome to get to where you are today? How have these experiences motivated you to pursue your educational dreams?
I now have a new perspective on what it means to grow and persevere in tough conditions. With the help of a strong community, great things can be accomplished. While furthering my academic journey is my priority for pursuing my educational dreams, finding a new engaging community and building each other up is the one of the best aspects to look forward to.
How have the opportunities offered at PSJA ISD, including the PSJA Early College Program, impacted your life?
At PSJA ISD, I was encouraged to join as many clubs and programs my campus had to offer, pushing me to continue learning and expand my skill sets. Through PSJA I have been able to compete in state level competitions within UIL Math, UIL Band, and Business Professionals of America. I was even able to compete in Anaheim, California for a national BPA competition where the best students from every state flew in to compete. Without the support of the district, I would not have been able to compete in those events, which have greatly impacted my life. I am better aware of what society has to offer; I better understand the competition life has to offer; and most importantly I am better educated with the knowledge I have gained through these experiences, maturing and growing as an individual. And after coming back from all of these terrific events and competitions, I can still come back to PSJA and further my academic endeavors.
What, if anything, would you say to your PSJA Family?
I would advise everyone to work together. We're in school for such a short period of our life, and time seems to fly by. It feels like it was only yesterday when I was playing with my friends during recess in elementary. There is no reason to push other people down for competition. By building off each other and learning from each other's experiences, we will only grow exponentially. I am grateful that during my in PSJA I felt a great sense of community and comradery, working together every step of the way. I hope this continues after I graduate, allowing the PSJA family to continue to prosper.
