What are your goals and aspirations?

While I am certain my future will be encompassed by some aspect of the medical field, I am aware the specifics can be “honed in” over time. I have grown to understand that having a very large, non-specific, objective will only lead to failure. When asked to choose what career path I was interested in as an 8th grader, I remember feeling so overwhelmed and feared my premature decisions would leave me wanting to give up. But, as I have continued through my high school years, learning about several different topics, reading more, and simply allowing myself to experiment in different areas of learning new things, I realize I can be successful in many areas. From the moment I stepped into my biology classroom freshmen year, I completely fell in love. I sat in class, fully submerged in the different topics, and have grown to realize that the field of Biology is able to open doors for a new and exciting world, full of new discoveries and opportunities. I have always known my destiny would be to provide for others. If I were to choose a path that would allow me to support those in my community, my mind immediately jumps to continuing my education at Dental School. As I consider the role models of my community, I have realized that I would like to finish my education and return to the RGV in hopes of serving the community that has made me who I am today.

What has PSJA Early College done for you?

Having lived in Edinburg my whole life, I am proud my family chose a school district that partners with South Texas College and provides their students with multiple Dual Enrollment classes. Not all districts provide the support found at PSJA, thus simultaneously allowing growth in academic, extracurricular opportunities, and post-secondary preparedness. The drive and momentum in which I was constantly immersed enabled me to be confident in whichever direction I choose. It is because of these opportunities that I will be fortunate enough to graduate with an Associate Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, well before graduating from high school. I do believe these classes have allowed me to develop proper time management skills, all while juggling Advanced Placement Courses, and extracurriculars.

How do you feel about your experience at PSJA?

PSJA ISD had given me the necessary tools to succeed in life after high school. From the wonderful professors who teach dual credit courses, to the many clubs and organizations, PSJA is truly a place that highlights a student’s growth. In my personal case, the PSJA FFA Organization has allowed me to develop my personal, leadership, and teamwork skills, all while providing me with the incredible facilities to do so. It has been amazing to experience the pride of P-SJ-A as we made a name for ourselves at the State Level. Sporting the “blue corduroy jackets” (official FFA dress), with the PHARR SAN JUAN ALAMO across the back, filled our 80+ FFA members with a huge sense of pride. To say PSJA ISD is a force to be reckoned with, is most definitely an understatement. I’m thrilled to continue to watch PSJA set the standards for years to come.

What if anything would you say to your PSJA Family?
As my high school career has slowly come to an end, I am most grateful for the opportunities PSJA ISD has given me. I would not be the individual I am today if it weren’t for the role models who made it their passion to lead young people through school. It is because of these teachers, counselors, and principals that I choose to continue with my education in hopes of giving back and being a mentor, contributor, and sponsor to assist many in their own walks. Thank you for your support and rest assured that you are making investments and building leaders who will better your tomorrow.
