    Early Childhood

    Through partnerships with local head starts and licensed day cares, the PSJA Early Childhood Education Program provides a solid foundation for lifelong learning.

    Students who participate in the PSJA Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 Program gain important skills to prepare them for success in kinder and beyond. 

    The program is free for all 3 and 4 year-olds. Students must be 3 or 4 years of age by September 1 to be eligible to receive these services.

    • PSJA Early Head Start (3 weeks - 4 yrs of age) based on eligibility criteria
    • Full-Day Pre-Kinder for 3 year olds with Partner Day Cares or half-day at PSJA Elementary Campuses for eligible children
    • Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten for 4 year olds at all PSJA Elementary Campuses and Partner Day Cares 


    PSJA ISD has numerous elementary campuses designated as National Blue Ribbon Schools and Honor Roll Schools for their high achievement in student success.

    Middle Schools

    At PSJA ISD, we know that educating and supporting students during their early adolescent years in middle school is crucial for their overall success. That's why our middle schools value the development of the whole child offering academic preparation, enrichment opportunities, and advisement that focuses on the social and emotional development of all students.

    In addition to AVID, PSJA middle school students can get a jumpstart on their future careers by taking College Success courses and earning high school credits through Pre-AP classes like Algebra, Geometry, and Spanish.

    Our eight PSJA ISD middle schools prepare students early on for Early College and beyond by providing the following:

    Early College High Schools

    All PSJA ISD high schools are designated Early College, which makes them innovative high schools that allow students to attend college and high school simultaneously. Early College High Schools offer rigorous instruction and provide academic, social and emotional support services to help students succeed.

    All students have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and a 2-year Associate Degree or 60 college credit hours towards a four-year Bachelor’s Degree at no cost to the student or the parents. 

    We provide numerous life-changing programs to help students get a jumpstart on their career and future:

    • Nationally recognized PSJA Early College Program in partnership with South Texas College
    • PSJA Academies that provide additional hands-on learning in various specific fields of study supporting students as they work to obtain a Certificate or an Associate Degree from South Texas College
    • PSJA Career & Technical Education offering 28 specialized programs and 13 career pathways
    • PSJA College Transition Program that helps students successfully transition from high school to college
    • PSJA Institutes that provide students in-depth knowledge and hands-on experiences in various careers. Initially for 10th-12th grade students, it is now expanding to offer these opportunities as early as the 8th grade year!

    In addition to high quality and rigorous academic opportunities in every high school, all PSJA ISD students can become well-rounded leaders by participating in competitive athletics and award-winning fine arts programs.

  • Parental engagement program

    PSJA Parental Engagement Program

    Through the nationally recognized PSJA Parental Engagement Program, each year over 6,000 PSJA ISD parents participate in free classes in any of the eight Parent/Community Education Centers throughout the tri-city area. 

    Dozens of FREE classes offered including:

    • GED
    • Citizenship
    • Computer Technology
    • Welding Certification
    • Security Guard Certification
    • Entrepreneurship Programs:       

    Nutrition Arts & Crafts, Sewing, Cake Decorating, Jewelry Making, Knitting, Cosmetology, Floral Arrangements, Manicure.

  • Can my child attend PSJA ISD even if I don’t live within the tri-city area?

    Yes, PSJA ISD is an OPEN ENROLLMENT school district. You may attend our schools, PK-3 to 12th grade, regardless of place of residence.
