Students visit the Library for a Step-by-Step Guide in completing a Capstone Project

In order to successfully graduate seniors are required to complete a capstone project. Capstone projects are research papers where students get to examine and research a specific topic on a real world issue. To kick-off our senior capstone projects we begin with a series of presentations in the library by local authors. Seniors were invited to the library for our first presentation on the importance of reading and writing. Special thanks to Mr. Joe Haske author of North Dixie Highway, Daniel Manuel Mendoza writer, literary critic, and essayist. He is the editor of Stray Dogs: Interviews with Working-Class Writers (Down and Out Books, 2016, and Mr. Juan Ochoa STC Professor and author known for his creative writing set on the Texas/Mexico border during the early years.

    BANNED BOOKS

During Banned Book Week September 22-28, students had a opportunity to checkout books banned. When a book is removed and or challenged it must first be challenged and looked at by the American Library Association. Only a minority of the requests actually make it through banning the book most because of inappropriate content. So many students showed interest on books displayed in the library on Friday
