ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Public Notice
Intent to Apply for the 2026-2027 ESSA Federal Grant Funding
“In accordance with United States Code (U.S.C.) Annotated, Title 20, Chapter 70, Subchapter VIII, Part C, Section 7846, and Public law (P.L.) 114-95, Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Section 8306, an entity planning to submit a federal grant application must afford a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the application before it is submitted.” Therefore, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District is making public notice of intent to apply for the 2026-2027 ESSA Consolidated Application for funding. PSJA ISD will apply for the following program areas:
Title I, Part A, Improving Basic Programs - Intent and Purpose: Title I Part A, provides supplemental resources to school districts to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families, provide high-quality education that will enable all children to meet the challenging state academic standards.
Award Amount: $18,275,244
Title I, Part C, Migrant Education Program – Intent and Purpose: Title I Part C, provides supplemental educational services to migratory children to ensure they meet the same academic standards as all students while addressing their unique needs.
Award Amount: $547,598
Title II, Part A, Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High-Quality Teachers, Principals, or Other School Leaders - Intent and Purpose: Title II, Part A, provides resources to school districts for the following: to increase student achievement on state academic standards, to improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders, to increase the number of teachers, principals and other school leaders, to provide low-income and minority students greater access to educators
Award Amount: $1,869,726
Title III, Part A, English Language Acquisition (ELA) - To provide supplemental resources to help ensure that children who are English learners attain English proficiency at high levels in academic subjects and can meet state achievement performance standards.
Award Amount: $1,100,215
Title IV, Part A, Student Support and Academic Enrichment - Intent and Purpose: To improve the academic achievement of all students by increasing the capacity of school districts, schools, and communities to provide all students with access to a well-rounded education, to improve school conditions for student learning, and to improve the use of technology in order to enhance academic outcomes and digital literacy of students
Award Amount: $1,285,101
