ALAMO — Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD partnered with community groups ARISE and the Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA) to host the 2nd Annual Mesa Comunitaria Parent Conference on March 25 at Alamo Middle School. The conference was geared for parents to learn more about the educational opportunities and resources offered by PSJA ISD and partnering community entities.
PSJA students were the main speakers during the conference, as they presented their successes as part of the district's Early College program. Students who have taken advantage of the district's Dual Language Enrichment Program also spoke about the importance of graduating bilingual and biliterate.
“This was a wonderful conference. I am very impressed with the different topics that we covered,” shared Fabio Angell a parent who attended the event. “I am happy my kids attend PSJA ISD."
Small group and roundtable conversations were also held to help parents learn more about how to better support their children during their educational journey.
“This event is important because it helps parents take ownership of their families,” said PSJA Deputy Superintendent Dr. Narciso Garcia. “This conference is a way for parents to learn about the many programs offered at PSJA and to help us re-engage them and show them what PSJA is all about.”
