Congratulations to sophomore Robert Ramirez for placing first in the annual Celebracion 2015 competition. In November Robert participated in the National Hispanic Institute Celebracion 2015 and won 1st place Nationals. The Celebracions is an event that changes every year and consists of new members and veterans of the NHI. The NHI's goal is to develop the next generation of leaders but focuses mainly on the Latino community. This year participants, within a short time, had to create a social good, a cause, and present what the cause was for, how to make the cause a reality, and the business model overall for the Latino community.
With their beautiful voices and musical talent, the Thomas Jefferson T-STEM Jazz band and Choir students created harmonious and jovial sounds throughout the community. Students performed at central office, Legend Health Care, and to T-STEM front office staff. "The kids did an awesome job representing T-STEM. It brought a smile to peoples faces, especially those at the Health Care," Mr. Vidal Flores, band director, said.
Jessica Zamarripa was the awarded the Engineering and Mathematics Gold Hispanic Heritage Youth Award. Out of 1,200 applicants, Jessica was selected based on her academic standards, community service, and character. Congratulations Jessica, T-STEM is proud of you!
