Students at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD schools will be learning science concepts through the addition of butterfly gardens to their school thanks to a $3.3 million grant allocated to The National Butterfly Center in Mission, a PSJA ISD partner.
According to the American Cancer Society, each day nearly 3,000 kids under the age of 18 try their first cigarette and almost 700 become regular smokers.

The panel discussion featuring the Honorable Duncan and Dr. Daniel King, PSJA ISD Superintendent, was part of the Student Leadership Day events held Tuesday, Oct. 6 at the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
. As part of this event, PSJA students took a tour of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s College of Engineering and also visited several local plants showcasing modern technology including Universal Metal Products, Gutierrez Engineering and Humanetics.
This summer the first cohort of PSJA ISD staff to participate in the district’s Developing Our Own Leaders program graduated with a Master’s of Education in Educational Administration from the University of Texas-Pan American.
