Students chose one of their favorite books and created the cover or book jacket for it. The student asked a parent to help them design the new book jacket for their favorite book. Contest was judged by Julie Mason, Norma Garza and Noelia Trevino and after much deliberation the winners were selected. On Wednesday, February 25, 2015 an evening social was held to celebrate the “Book Cover Contest”. Parents and students enjoyed delicious food and great conversation at the social. 1st Place winners: Rebecca Trevino and Lindsey Morales, 2nd Place winner: Michelle Chavarria, 3rd Place winner: Justin Olvera. Congratulations to all the participants on a job well done… they are all winners!
LBJ Steppers have won at American dance/ drill team sweepstakes, which is division 1, in all 6 dances. They took the judges award for team hip hop and team pom and lastly got best overall choreography. They did VDEC last week and they got a division 1 in the impromptu and a division 2 in the performance

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD has been designated a 2015 Best Communities for Music Education across the United States for its outstanding commitment to music education.
Yolanda Castillo, Principal at Graciela Garcia Elementary in South Pharr was surprised this morning with a $1,000 check for her and $2,500 for her school, as part of the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards. She is one of five finalist for the Elementary Principal category.
