Congratulations goes out to the Austin Middle School Junior Varsity Orchestra for receiving a Superior Rating in U.I.L. Sight-Reading competition. They are directed by the talented Mr. Andy Arrango. They competed at PSJA Early College High School on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.
On Friday, January 20th the 6th Annual "Battle of the Books" competition was held at Southwest High School and I am happy to announce that Austin Middle School was awarded 1st place. Last year these same students competed and they came in fourth. However, with hard work and dedication these students were able to come out at the top this year and beat out all the rest of the middle schools. Congratulations, Alexander Maldonado, Cassandra Rios, Alejandra Reyes, and Fernanda Reyes. Go Bruins.
Parents, we still over 100 8th grade students whose parents have not come in to electronically sign their child's Career Pathway for High School. You can stop by Mrs. Reyna's office for all 8th graders (A-L). Mrs. Camacho office for all 8th graders (M-Z). Any time will be fine, no appointment necessary, it takes about 5 minutes. Thank You.
Students, Parents, and Staff, Student Council is sponsoring a canned food drive. The 6th period class with the most donations will get a Chick Fil A lunch. Friday, November 18th at 12 noon is the deadline. Last year we had over 1,200 cans. Lets beat last year's record.
Once again, our Bruin orchestra students auditioned and won several chairs in this years TMEA Region XV All Region Middle School Orchestra. These kids were featured in the all region concert at McAllen High School. They did a wonderful and memorable job! We are very proud of the AMS administration, parents, students and teachers who all contributed to this opportunity and success! Bravo!
Austin Middle School will be having a MANDATORY parent and student meeting for all our 8th grade students on Thursday, November 10 at 5:00 pm. PSJA Early College HS counselors will be present on the new graduation requirements for the incoming 9th grade students. Please make arrangements to attend this very important meeting.
